How many stars are visible in the sky?
In many books you can read that a person is able to see nearly 6,000 stars with the naked eye. However, this figure depends on numerous conditions.
Even in cloudless weather over the city you'll see about 100-150 stars. If you leave the city, then at sea level you can discern up to 1,500 stars. The maximum number of stars can only be seen in dry mountain air.

When two galaxies collide, the supermassive black holes at their centers generate a powerful gravitational jolt, similar to the recoil of a shotgun blast.
In a novel study, scientists found that the power of this pulse could be enough to knock millions of stars into unstable orbits.
